I qualified initially as a Diagnostic Radiographer (Diploma of College of Radiographers) and then worked at the General Hospital in Birmingham for 5 years where I gained experience in Accident and Emergency, Orthopaedics and general medicine.
I then decided to train as a Dentist and went to Birmingham University where I qualified in 1995 with Honours and clinical distinction. I then undertook my foundation training year at Dam Street Dental practice and then carried on working as an associate for 6 years. After leaving Dam Street I went to work at three practices around Birmingham gaining experience in all aspects of cosmetic treatments and also inner city dental work. During this time I obtained my MJDF RCS (Eng) from the Royal College of Surgeons in 2012 which allowed me to become a member of the College.
Being dual qualified in Radiography and Dentistry I now lecture around the West Midlands on Radiography and Radiation Protection to Dentists, Foundation Dentists, Hygienists, therapists and DCPS which I really enjoy. I am a trainer for foundation dentists (newly qualified) for the West Midlands Deanery and have done this for the last 5 years. This allowed me to obtain my Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Education from Keele University in 2014.
I returned to Dam Street in 2012 when I brought the practice from Miss Wall, who was previously my trainer when I graduated.
I enjoy all aspects of Dentistry and I really enjoy the teaching of the foundation dentists.
Outside work I am a qualified football coach and swimming teacher. I help run a football team at Whittington where my two sons play and I also coach at Kingsbury swimming club with my two daughters. I also enjoy long walks with my dog.
